sleep mode (noun)
A power-saving state that allows the computer or device to quickly resume full-power operation (typically within several seconds) when you want to start working again. All open documents and programs are saved to memory before the computer or device enters the low-power state.

hibernate (verb)
For a computer system, to be in an inactive state, but not shut off. When the computer is switched back on, the desktop is restored exactly as it was.
